| My Why?
Meet Steve, he has been married to his wife, Marlene, for 51 years. He has been a custom home builder in Colorado Springs for the past 30 years. When he isn’t designing a dream home for a client, he enjoys family, friends, and golf (and did we mention, golf?). He has also been on the Fostering Hope Business and Community Advisory Board since 2014.
How did you first learn about Fostering Hope? Back in 2012, I was a part of Coutura Design Inspirations which launched a golf invitational for building partners throughout Colorado Springs and Denver. As we were seeking out a beneficiary, Kim Sandoval introduced the partners at Coutura to Fostering Hope. They all agreed that this would be a perfect fit. |

| What about our mission excites you? When I first learned of Fostering Hope, I was already preparing to work with TwoCor which was placing youth with companies willing to work with interns to grow their skills in trades of interest. Many of the youth in the program were supported by Fostering Hope. This crossover was fortuitous.
What experiences do you have related to our mission? I sincerely enjoy working with young adults who have an interest in learning more about home building, or anything else that I may know a little bit about. My experience with TwoCor drew me to this population of kids and young adults so much so that I decided to also join a Fostering Hope team through my faith community. The idea of being part of a team all with the goal of supporting one foster family and helping them find success just spoke to me.
What have you enjoyed most about being on the FH Local Board? I’ve enjoyed the behind the scenes, first-hand knowledge of seeing lives changed and transformed through the direct work of Fostering Hope Coordinators and volunteers alike. Being a part of something that has proven results is an honor.
Scott’s Why? I’ve always felt fortunate to do what I enjoy and giving back in a way that teaches others how to work alongside me in the workforce one day is certainly fulfilling. |
